Students need entrepreneurship skills in life

Press conference of the project PoMP, which supports young people on their way to entrepreneurship

Five partners from all over Slovenia (SRC Bistra Ptuj, Primorska technology park Nova Gorica, Saša Incubator Velenje, Technology Park Ljubljana and Development Centre Nomo Mesto) have many years of experience in promoting entrepreneurship among young people.  They have realized the importance of promoting entrepreneurial competences among young people even at early education levels (primary school, secondary school) and even more the importance of teachers/mentors in this process. The project PoMP is based on various European and national documents that encourage the development of entrepreneurship skills among young people. The Norwegian partner, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, will also participate in the project throughout the duration of the project with the aim of transferring Norwegian good practices to it.

The project PoMP is financed by Norway Grants in the amount of 497 374 euros. The aim of the project is to provide support to young people in acquiring entrepreneurial competences.

In Kozana, the project partners organized a press conference, which took place live and at the same time “online”. The Slovenian partners presented the planned activities of the PoMP project. The main objective of the project is to establish a comprehensive and permanent support environment that encourages young people to search for entrepreneurial ideas, create business models and provides them with the necessary entrepreneurial skills. This will be done by cooperation of existing support institutions and use of the newly established service, the PoMP Academy for teachers /mentors working with students. The project aims to contribute to two challenges: to increase the entrepreneurship competences of teachers/mentors and, through them, to increase the entrepreneurship competences among young people, with the aim of increasing their employment potential.

Two headmasters were also guests at the press conference, i.e., Marta Pavlin from Novo Mesto Elementary School and Aleksander Šterman from Ormož Elementary School. Both emphasized that the entrepreneurial competencies are an excellent advantage in life. The PoMP project is therefore of great importance for spreading the methods, which develop entrepreneurship skills of young people to all Slovenian schools. The headmasters said that young people want to develop their entrepreneurial skills and learn about entrepreneurship and the experiences of the partners of the PoMP project are confirming that.
